The silk has always reminded us of something warm and far like the antient accessories of Chinese women where there is long smooth hair made up high by the Chinese hairpins, the crystal earings sparkling just spot-on, and the sound of a loom sending forth silks of historic fragrance.
To some extent, silk symbolizes the long history of China. From Han Dynasty, there had been large scale of silk trades which developed into the following Silk Road. To modern times, the silk not only achieved beauties like Zhang Ailing but also attracted numerous foreigners to experience the delicate culture in the south of China.
The British Rachel Addy from Yorkshire is a fashion designer who happened to notice the silk clothes where there is “Made in China” on the label. Since that day , she had formed a strong interest in the smooth and delicate silk on shoulders of women. A week later, she flew to China to input this particular feeling to her design career.
Hangzhou is the center of silk culture just like Bingxin said: “when you run business in Zhejiang province, silk must come the first”. Rachel chose this city as her origin of design spirits. Every time when she stands in front of the silk, what come in sight is no longer the busy life but a small town with drizzling paths where there is a beauty wearing the soft silk clothes walking elegantly.
Since she came here, Rachel not only has owned the best source of silk, but more about loving this city. In such a spiritual place, to design the most beautiful clothes on the international stage is her biggest dream and fun. After work, she always organises activities to help more foreigners open their own business just like the moment when she first came here.
Living in a foreign land may be lonely, but it is because there is something one deeply loves that makes life full of fun. Hangzhou city is always developing which also carrying Rachel to move forward. If one day you see a foreign girl who wearing Qipao with an oiled-paper unbrella on the street, don’t be amazed by her deep temperament conveying rich experience, maybe she is just passing by......
